Nisan Stewart
Celebrated Drummer • Record Producer • Songwriter
Southern California native Nisan Cumming Stewart is a celebrated drummer, record producer, and songwriter—working with an array of artists and serving as drummer for ABC’s Dancing With the Stars.
Currently, the musical director for Jamie Foxx and 50 Cent, Nisan worked with Timbaland and Missy Elliott on Missy Elliott’s earlier work (This Is Not a Test!).
He co-produced Karen Clark Sheard’s 2002 album 2nd Chance, and co-produced and co-wrote the Nelly Furtado single “No Hay Igual” (from her 2006 album Loose) with Timbaland. Stewart and Timbaland also co-wrote and produced a song for Busta Rhymes’s 2006 album The Big Bang. Nisan is also the founder of gospel music group The Soul Seekers.
Born and raised in the Los Angeles area, Nisan spent his formative years as a drummer in his father Bishop Carl Stewart’s church.
After receiving an Associates degree in English from Cerritos College, he decided to pursue his life long hobby of playing drums and landed his first gig with Sony recording artist Puff Johnson.
In addition to Missy Elliot, Jamie Foxx, 50 Cent, Nelly Furtado, and The Soul Seekers, Nisan’s resume also went on to include Patti LaBelle, Beyonce, Ginuwine, Tweet, Playa, Magoo, and beloved R&B/Pop star Aaliyah.
