World Renowned Lead Guitarist • TV/Film Composer

World-renowned guitarist, composer and songwriter Kat Dyson tours and performs with some of the biggest musical stars on the planet.

Widely recognized for her work on-road and in-studio with beloved late icon Prince, the Southern-born performer continues to tour internationally with Cyndi Lauper, the B-52s, and Italian rock and blues legend Zucchero.

She has worked with Chaka Khan, Sheila E., Stevie Wonder, Sting, Mick Jagger, Sarah McLachlan, Carlos Santana, Sam Moore (Sam & Dave), Brice WIllis, Nona Hendrix, Ivan Neville, Donny Osmond, Odetta, rap artist T.I., Seal, Joi, George Clinton and the P-Funk AllStars, Musique Soulchild, Res, Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir, The Winans, Mary Mary, Yolanda Adams, as well as late greats Natalie Cole, Phoebe Snow, Big Mamma Thornton, Ben E. King, Bo Diddley, and BB King, and more.

In June 2016, she participated in the BET Prince Tribute performance with Sheila E. In the May 2017 edition of Guitar Player magazine, she made the 50 Sensational Female Guitarist List, plus her music is included in the She Rocks, Vol. 1 compilation on Steve Vai’s label Favored Nations.

In 2018, she was a part of Toshi Reagon’s special all-female superband (Powerjam) for Afropunk, featuring a special appearance by Angela Davis. And in 2020, she appeared at The Grammys with Usher and Sheila E. and as a part of the house band for the CBS television special Let’s Go Crazy-The Grammy Salute to Prince.

She continues to serve as musical director for Jessica Care Moore’s blockbuster Black Women Rock production, and plays with three all-female jazz/R&B bands: Jazz in Pink, Hit Like a Girl and Rocksugah for the SheRock Awards at the NAMM show.

More session work highlights include Keb’Mo’, Ziggy Marley, Sheila E, Dave Stewart (Eurythmics), and Mick Jagger (Alfie soundtrack), as well as her own studio release, Colour Kommentary (EP).

Los Angeles-based—via Montreal, New York City, and Minneapolis—Kat also composes music for television and film.
